IF YOU ARE NEW TO THE INDUSTRY AND WANT TO KNOW HOW TO GET STARTED …..
DO NOT SKIM-READ IN FULL WHAT YOU NEED TO HAVE FIRST
YOU DON’T HAVE TO DO IT IN THE EXACT ORDER BUT YOU SHOULD HAVE ALL OF THESE ON THE LIST DONE BEFORE YOU THINK ABOUT CONTACTING AN AGENCY OR SUBMITTING TO A MANAGEMENT COMPANY UNLESS YOU WANT YOUR STUFF TO MOST LIKELY END UP IN THE TRASH CAN OR NOT EVEN LOOKED AT OR TAKEN SERIOUSLY
SHOOT # 1.
Professional Industry Standard Headshots
All working professionals must have a headshot and not a selfie but a signature shot because this is the photo that is gonna be used a lot consider it as your business card so this is gonna be the shot that your gonna have on business cards comp cards and the photo that will be shipped around agencies and casting directors. Make sure you have it in color and as well black and white.
A professional industry standard headshot must be shot by a SAG/AFTRA or Actra headshot photographer. This is a must if you are interested in doing on-camera film tv work in the industry or becoming an actress/actor doing television and commercials.
So make sure you do your research to find the best one within your budget and that they are shooting industry talent that is with the union as this photo shoot should not be shot with just anyone unless you’re just wanting to get headshots for your portfolio but before agency submission make sure you have worked with one that has the proper credentials otherwise you could end up wasting a lot of money having photos that will just end up being rejected
BRAND YOUR SIGNATURE PHOTO ON ALL SOCIAL PLATFORMS
It is important in branding this photo in the early stages so it should be used as your profile pic on all your social media pages as well so make sure that you have your best and favorite photo.
THIS SHOULD STAY UP FOR AT LEAST 3 MONTHS on all your social media platforms
This is key to getting people to remember your face.
Every 3 months you should change the photo but people remember the shot if they see it on all your platforms which will help later in the marketing and branding but we can discuss that later.
DO NOT WEAR going to this shoot for headshot a lot of or no Makeup at all, so creamy nude and natural foundation and touch-ups if needed but it is a no-no that your images don’t show the real you.
PROFESSIONAL INDUSTRY STANDARD HEADSHOT PHOTOGRAPHERS ARE PROS AND THEY HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS TO TOUCH UP YOUR IMAGES AND MAKE THEM LOOK AMAZING

LESS IS MORE Do not show up to the shoot looking like Ronald Mcdonald…
LESS IS MORE. Castings Directors want to see the real you!
If you can’t afford a top-notch one at first work with a few different photographers that are affordable or willing to do TFP work (Trade for Print)
This will get you comfortable in front of the camera working on facial expressions and trying different looks as time goes on when you have enough good shots and you feel ready then book one with a top pro headshot photographer.
You must have these before submitting to an acting agency to work with or casting for a film or television project
Have a variety but make sure you are only putting out the best quality images for the casting director to see.
